Cricket Nets

One of the most important pieces of ground equipment for both amateur and professional cricket clubs is the practice facilities. Cricket nets must be in good working order as they play a crucial role in the development of young cricketers. Even adult cricket players can benefit from regular net sessions which are often organised 2-3 times a week at most cricket clubs.

Mobile nets are the most useful as they can be transported from different areas of the cricket ground. Out of cricket season, indoor nets are required to make sure the players (boys, girls, youths, ladies and men) stay focused and benefit from regular practice in the close season.

Mobile Cricket Nets

These are available to buy from good cricket or outdoor sports shops. Recommended suppliers of cricket nets and mobile cricket nets are Notts Sports, Tildenet Ltd, Huck Nets and SLR Cricket. Mobile nets can last for years, but be careful about buying cheap nets as many of these simply can not stand the rigours of cricket practice. Buying good quality cricket nets works out cheaper in the long run.

Indoor Cricket Nets

When Summer is over and the Winter sets in many cricketers still wish to practice cricket during this close season. Cricket clubs organise "indoor nets" which are often located at the local sports centre, sports hall or even local school or college. Indoor net sessions typically last for 1-3 hours and involve warm up, coaching and practice.

Benefits of Net Practice

By attending regular net practice you will find your cricket game will improve. Your coach should be able to identify technical flaws by standing behind the stumps and watch carefully either the batsmen or standing back and watching a bowlers action. If you can gain access to a video camera with digital playback, this is a welcome addition to cricket net sessions.
Batsmen can correct, driving, defensive, back foot, front foot, hooking, pulling, sweeping, slog sweep, attacking shots and improve hand eye co-ordination. for bowlers they iron out chest on or side action bowling techniques and also correct bowling run ups, no ball problems, improve line and length and of course improve stamina and fitness.
